Hi, Just finished my university course in Computer Science last year. Been working a bit in SWE and would like to apply to work in the US (as a graduate or junior or anything else). I am not too sure of the process and whether I just apply on a US company's careers page first or need to complete any pre-requisites first. Is this too complicated or is it possible to apply for and start a role in the US (moving to the US with a confirmation of role). To note: I am an Australian Citizen so I believe I am eligible for the E3 visa.
Why deal with immigration hassles when you are already in a first world country? Leaving all your family and friends behind and starting over?
I’m young enough to do it now. I’ve only left Aus once and if I’m ever to work in another first world country for a few years now is the time
You can apply from outside the US and just have them fly you in for interviews. The visa process is quite easy, but smaller companies might not be aware of this. You can probably discuss visa things after you have an offer
1. Best way would be to get a job in Australia in a company that can potentially allow you to move to US in a year or two. I heard Atlassian has a boomerang program for this. US companies like Google, MSFT, Amazon could do that as well. 2. Get a referral for a US job from someone who you know in US. 3. Apply on careers page, but chances of getting a callback will be low, you will need to get lucky. And, why US ?
Money I guess
As rksh said, money. We pay like shit in Aus compared to US (not sure if even the cost of living differences close to balance it out) Edit: god dammit idk how I managed to make two usernames under the same email address (maybe I used linked in)
