I could use some recommendation for mental health therapist or psychiatrist in Greater Seattle area. Quality of my sleep, my ability to concentrate and my self-esteem seriously deteriorated. I used almost all my vacation time this year and still not feeling reenergized. I don't want to leave my company at the moment. Also not sure management will be empathetic if I share my health conditions with them. Ideally I'd like to take month of leave - how to approach this? I also feel a bit ashamed to admit having this issue. I don't feel it is serious enough to go to the doctor as I am physically fit and may not give an impression of someone having this kind of issues. I'd greatly appreciate doctor recommendations in Lynnwood area and general info on how to arrange a medical leave.
Check for employee assistance program in MS. They usually have a counseling session.
Weak reply
Definitely aim for therapy. You'd be better off starting before considering leave as you may be able to have the doctor sign off on fmla for it. Take the first step, in other parts of your life you can set small super easy to obtain goals to keep you on track while you're working through therapy.
Even weaker reply
Instead of saying weak reply, how about you reply
What you really need is to work on yourself and stop relying on someone else to solve your own problems. Because you end up in an endless loop of therapists that give you temporary mental gratification and leads you to believe that you cannot solve your own problems without their help. Take the chance to face your problems once and for all.
Weak reply. If op had this ability currently in his bag of tricks he would use it.
A good therapist will teach him the tools he needs to make the improvements
It’s not easy to figure out things by ourselves, especially when there is stress and fear involved. And it always helps to talk to someone. Therapists are willing to listen to you without any judgement. I have been to therapy and it definitely helps you identify what you might be going through and they work with you towards actionable progress. But yeah, you need to have the will to accept and commit to becoming better.
Start by going to your insurance website and find a few therapists nearby. A lot will do a free phone consultation so you can get a sense of you’re a good fit for each other. Do 1 session with a few therapists to make sure you find a person you’re comfortable with. Share your goals for treatment and make a plan together.
No need to be ashamed at all. Lots of people have mental health concerns and go to therapy. Therapy has really helped me work on myself and feel better. Mindful Therapy Group has offices around Seattle and will also do virtual appointments. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Did you talk to your general doctor ?
Not yet. I didn't acknowledge this issue until it became noticeably harder to neglect it.
I know this is unsolicited advice and off topic but still.. Exercise bro!it solves a lot of problems I also cook when I feel anxious..it's therapeutic, also the result is something tasty and you feel good about yourself.
Thank you all for your advices. I'll start with over the phone consultation and see how it goes.
