I plan to apply to a bunch of different companies, i.e FAANG, Uber, Twitter, linkedin, Airbnb, how should I approach it so the offers would line up nicely, then I would have leverage for negotiation? Which companies will give deadline for offers? And which one would be able to wait for me to gather the offers?
Apply at once - all of them. Not all of them will respond to you, so you have to accept that fact. You can always start with the companies you want to work at the most first. Slow down the interview process as you get response from another FANG so you can line up. Do one interview either the same week or one week apart. FANG don’t care.
All move at similar pace, maybe goog is slower. You can’t really time it perfectly but do a best effort
I tried timing my interviews, didn’t really work out the way I wanted it to. Too many variables and some of them are not in your control. I have 3 offers and now and still waiting for one onsite.
Considering you're leaving soon can I DM you with some application questions and for an honest perspective? (Don't worry, not asking for a referral)
Here’s how: Skip Uber Ignore LinkedIn and Twitter Focus on Google Friend a Facebook bro. Attend meetups and build contacts at AirBnB & Netflix Get a referral for Apple- give an interview and do not wait on offer. Netflix by far has the lowest bar of all. And if you’re out of all options try Amazon
Why skip Uber, LinkedIn & Twitter?
And why would you not wait for an offer from apple?
Agreed. But Apple offer TAT is legendarily crappy and most times they don’t move forward unless they have a backup for roles in SCV
Applying doesn’t mean you’ll get offers. Focus on that first IMO.
Timing the interviews won't take much extra time either, there's no reason I can't do both.
