I have an interview for a software engineering manager role at Amazon. It’s a video call with a Senior SW Engineering manager in the same team I’m applying for. I really need that job. So, if you can help me with any pointers, this will be very much appreciated.
Looking at the worst managers of my life here, I think u won't need to prepare. Just suck up their leadership principles and prepare multiple fake but real looking examples for each LP.
👍
I swear I’m good at what I do. The point is that I need that job badly at the moment. I need to make sure I land it...hopefully
If you're good, you won't make it. Even if you do, and end up joining, you'll quit within a few months. I've rarely come across any good L6 or L7 managers.
Prepare yourself for the Leadership Principle questions. Tech depth is not expected, though you should be technically ok. I've been on several SDM interviews and always been asked to focus on the LPs - especially Bias for Action, Disagree and Commit, Deliver Results.
Thanks... really helpful!
This is spot on. Bias for Action and Deliver results are absolute must go
That’s wt I’ve heard and afraid of. That’s why I thought of checking

Don’t worry they hire bad managers all the time
Does Zillow hire bad managers, too? Thinking of applying, hoping to pass.
