I hated Amazon, should i consider FB?

I left Amazon for a reason. Wrong team, bad culture, politics, work content wasn’t meaningful or motivating, no WLB etc. I can keep going on and on. Now, I have been told that it is the same at FB - hardcore and evil. Friend told me if I left Amazon, no reason to join FB. Goal at FB might not be all positive, and bad WLB and high PIP. What do you think? Should I really not consider FB?

Sure. But what I’m saying is no matter how much $$$ at Amazon meant nothing to me, so however much TC isn’t gonna make me sell my soul.

Ah huh...let us know what you think when you get that offer 😋

Op I'm in the same boat in Amazon. If there's an ounce of truth to fb that there high chances of getting into the same shit show, then run. Run away. You have one life. Is it worth taking a risk for that situation? I'm happy with lower TC and a positive place. I admit not all teams/places are bad. But there is objective proof that some companies are a breeding ground. Just the number of threads for both of these companies. And I was foolish enough to think I'll escape that.

If TC means everything to you that you are willing to gamble. By all means go ahead.

Which teams at Facebook are bad and why?

Facebook llp6 Dec 4, 2019

Would you tolerate 70% of the shit in Amazon for 200% of the pay? If so try FB

Amazon zEkq71 Dec 4, 2019

Were you at Amazon before?

Facebook llp6 Dec 4, 2019

Nope, just based on stories here.

Amazon zEkq71 Dec 4, 2019

I’d be curious to hear from those who have worked at both places

don’t you think it depends on the group and manager in Facebook? Just like any other company.

Yes, it does. But often there’s a trend or ratio. At Amazon, I wasn’t lucky to be on a good team. I’m sure FB has good and bad also but you never know. Guess that’s why I’m asking.

How’s Apple?

Facebook easzss Dec 4, 2019

The answer is get an offer first. Most people never do.

If not optimizing for TC, why even bother? Assumptions are higher probability of bad culture etc. Clearing the interview will result in further dilemma. Not clearing only results in a waste of time. Ofc if u r still in dilemma now, then trying and failing will clear it. But not trying is a better option here if you know your priorities

Yeap, offer first, althought I'd say FB is better than AMZN, not a high bar anyway (in terms of overall employee wellness)

Better in what sense ?

Have you not read the viral protest letter by Facebook employees of color about discrimination in the workplace? And tons of complaints of how Facebook even bans and censors employees of color? Several of my friends who work at FB are too scared to speak out publicly but say racism is rampant and the company could care less to fix it.
