I think it is really screwed up that we are to scared to publicly speak our minds or live our lives over employment concerns!

It is more about my being unemployable at any Multinational or Big Consulting firm!

The minute they look at my profile my resume goes into the trash bin!

I don't think most people understand the gravity of what is going on?

Under the guise of being concerned about alienating co-workers and potential clients, a systematic approach is being taken to make sure we are unable to communicate, except in the shadows!

If Companies are concerned about employees discussing taboo topics with coworkers and clients while on the clock, all they need to do is create a policy on the subject!

You break the rules and you are fired!

Problem solved!

This keen interest the big companies are taking in our private lives is dystopian!

Am I wrong or Right?

Not clear what you’re talking about. Can you elaborate on what’s being banned or threatened over?

I think you have a point. I knew a police officer discriminated against over his outspoken views. Literally was horribly bullied. Unless you can prove it though, doesn’t matter what HR did or does. Delete your social profiles. Politics are extremely volatile now.

I hope you never have commented on a public forum.

That data is out there held forever for prosperity! The reports they get are a pretty deep dive these days!

Deleting your social media isn't going to scrub you record, other than slowing the bleeding,

If they can find it, so can you or hire a reputation defender to scrub your online posts. I have never commented with my real identity, no. Especially when controversial. But, if you commented on another’s Facebook post. You’ll never get that back unless you can find it. Find another company that doesn’t stalk the hell out of you.

I feel ya! But your response has a resigned tone to it. Me personally I am mad as hell and won't take it anymore! Lol

Funny how this is only a concern to some people when it comes to paranoia about being unable to openly mock or disrespect their coworkers on social media.

Meanwhile, anyone who had to deal with racial or sexual harassment at work has all the non disclosure agreements and hr and legal teams watching them. But ut-oh, you are afraid to post a bigoted meme🤭

Shit, your personal life? It’s not like low wage workers get drug tested and have to hide their tattoos or, if they’re black, get conservative haircuts so employers don’t assume they are “thugs”.

If you are concerned that our employers have too much power over us (a very legit concern!) then, idk, why not try and help build a union... then you might also find out what it’s actually like to face real repression and threats of blacklisting in the workplace. Who knows it might force you to develop basic empathy and solidarity with the other employees you work with.

Maybe you missed the part where I said that having a policy against discussing taboo topics on the clock is acceptable?

A companies interest in a employee should end when they are off the clock!

I see no reason that it should end. Again, it's their company, and employment is at will. As long as they aren't discriminating against any laws, 🤷‍♂️?

Free speech and expression is only protected from the government. You have a responsibility to your words and actions. That's how it is man. Check your online profile.

I think you have that all wrong!

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" I think they were talking about these being inalienable rights that should be protected from anyone or thing!

Exactly who does own a publicly traded company anyway?

The person with the most voting shares?

The public who owns a small portion individually but a large amount cumulatively?

      The board of directors?

What percent in outstanding stock constituents true ownership?

      Like I said, you'll be ok. 👋

Funny that you can't find any comeradery on this. Maybe you need to step back and check your privilege?

I would just keep my pedophilia tendencies to myself if I were you, or at least off of the company mailing lists.

By "speaking our minds" did you mean the ability to direct your hateful philosophy at minorites and women?

      Yes! It does!

If a person is offended with what you think and do in your private life.

      They have one choice!

Not to take a further interest in what they do outside of a professional environment.

At work we are all a captive audience.

That is why there are so many legal protections in the work place.

Sexually harass or discriminate and usually the employee is gone.

The goal is to spend as few years as possible working for other people. You need to find a way to translate that capital earned via labor into businesses that you are own. Good luck

It’s always been like this. The only difference is that now it is infinitely easier to broadcast your speech to the entire planet and it’s infinitely easier for others to see what you wrote in the past.

Back in the days before the internets, the only people who would take out rants in the newspaper were the crazy people. Now everyone does it because it’s free. Turns out we’re all crazy but it’s easier to call the people who pay money to do it, the crazy ones. If you don’t want people to think you’re crazy, just don’t post shit online, especially as something that can relate back to you.
