Things to consider - Buy a house, moving with your spouse/family. - Settling down long term. - Cost of living and build your savings. *** Sorry about the typo on Portland. Portland, OR ***
Seattle then Austin . Both are good tech hubs beside Bay Area . Raleigh has few tech jobs
Lol.. Portland is not in WA
Where is Portland, WA?
Texas
According to my limited knowledge in geography, Portland would be the 2nd largest city in China.
Don't come to Seattle if looking to get away from SF. Seattle is basically just SF - sun. They construct more homes per year than bay area, but the housing still just as expensive because the constant stream of ppl moving in.
Still seattle is cheap compare to Bay Area if you don’t live in Bellevue or Redmond and some companies FAANG pay almost same salary as Bay Area and we get no state tax 10% savings. Austin is fucked up with lots of heat and nothing to do . Flat land
Better than the extreme cold of Seattle and no sunlight for 11 months.
Vancouver, WA. Best of both (tax) worlds.
Don't you still have to file state income tax if working in Oregon though? If you could work in WA, shop in OR - could save big though. Especially on 🥃🍺
Lol true . Work in WA and go for shopping in OR. Tax free life .
Austin TX for the cheap houses with well paying and plentiful job opportunities, and for the Bay Area like weather. Portland doesn't have many job opportunities and the housing prices there are the same as those in Seattle, and so is the weather. Totally not worth it. Raleigh doesn't even belong in this list, all jobs there are career-suicide ones. I prefer to settle in Seattle.
Well Cisco does have a good base in Raleigh. The research triangle is actually highly regarded.
Raleigh is for people who want to retire as he meant ( career suicide ). No startups and old technology for work. Why don’t you work in cisco Milpitas then live in mountain house or Tracy ?
Fastpapuan I don’t think you live in Seattle . Seattle has 153 days of sunny days and us average is 201 days. Do you care more TC base or hot desert sunlight weather and low salary of Texas .https://www.bestplaces.net/climate/city/washington/seattle . Better than New York , Boston or Chicago dude. If you like California sun then don’t come with expectations. If you are from New York then less cold weather and no winter storms .
New York. I have family here so that makes it cheaper and there are things to do. Jobs are plentiful.
