    Low for 10 YOE.
I am shocked you are considering it, how much is your TC at Amazon? It should be 200k+ isn't it?

Yes, I know. That is the reality of Austin. A lot of hype about the tech market here.

I think OP just got down leveled. If he was offered a L3 offer it would be like 200k-250k, so that’s about the same or even higher than Seattle 250k factoring in the COL.

Austin tech is not as big as the west coast but it’s not hyped either. Austin tech is growing crazy.

L3 is not near $200k base in Austin. The ranges are widely available internally.

      TC is definitely 200k+.

Austin cost of living is half of SF and maybe 1/3 cost of living in Seattle. Even 150 is top of range (but equivalent to 300 in SF)

Do you think I can negotiate at the same level or need l3 to go higher?

Probably L3. But if they already leveled you at L2, you can ask for additional interviews or come in at top of the band L2. Would focus on negotiating sign on and anniversary bonus which has plenty of wiggle room

Don't know if it's top of band, but I got an offer that was extremely similar. A few CA-based companies went much higher..

Could you give examples of CA based companies in Austin? Software ?

Well I work at one of them. Others would be Apple, Facebook, Dropbox, Adobe. Maybe PayPal, eBay, or Roku. Also WA-based Amazon and Tableau.

Haha thanks. I specialize in AI so didn't see many related postings.

It’s a bit low for 10 YOE. You should be aiming for L3. For L2 this is pretty good but factoring in your YOE than not good.

L2 vs. L3 is about behaviors not YOE. If you're not leading teams (as tech lead, manager, etc.) then you're not going to get an L3 offer.

Hmm....I came in as a L3 ic though.

I don’t think you will enjoy working there as swe2. I heard from multiple people that it is fairly difficult to get to swe3. I worked at both amazon and had a swe3 offer from indeed. If you are not in a hurry, i suggest you interview again.

Uh... shouldn’t you be making way more than that at Amazon?
