They're maturing/restructuring. We hired like ~2k people in Q1 and we're pausing hiring to absorb those resources and put better processes in place moving forward. Still profitable and still a great place to work.

It's not really a pause. People just need to justify why they need to hire someone. Before, we just hired folks and figured out where to put them later. Now, we hire folks for roles we actually need.

For the verbal offers pending on approvals, will the formal offers be given or is it likely that the verbal offers might be revoked?

Those orders should still go through

Hopefully the pending approvals can clear soon. Have been waiting for a formal offer since 18th April (~7 weeks)

  • Why does everyone seem to want to go to Indeed on here?

Because if you're coming in at L3+ from faang or whatever, you'll be treated and compensated like a minor deity for bringing over best practices from your larger scale product.

As per my friend in SF, hiring freeze will remain till whole year and proper reason will be provided for hiring further.
All the travels have been stopped until it's really critical. No more rotations where ppl used to go to different center to learn new stuff.

    • No more travels and rotations? It sounds like a bit of a stretch...

Travel is definitely still happening, but people definitely used to take advantage of it so that's why it's being cut down. You pretty much just need an actual reason to travel now

It was Schrodinger's hiring freeze/pause/budget tightening. Leadership's messaging was fuzzy, everyone heard something different, and very few of us could observe the ground state.

Thanks. This response matches what I heard from the recruiter as well as the variety of responses on this thread. Seems like backfills are ok and maybe specific reqs. Hopefully it all gets sorted soon.

It was not a complete freeze, senior hires (l3+) are still being processed as normal

Not true, my senior offer is being delayed for an unknown amount of time because of the freeze.

Indeed is a good place to work, probably best I’ve been. I’ve heard nothing on the freeze being lifted any time soon, and I think we def overhired in Q1. I’m actually leaving the company soon and physical overcrowding was one of the reasons why. Amazing I can be in the top quintile of earners in the US and still have to sit cheek to jowl with others

I am at champions and we’ve been hearing about the new domain office ages, but too little, too late. I’m extroverted but I go hang out in the bathrooms sometimes just to have a few blessed moments to myself. Unfortunately some other folks have gotten the same idea so I had to start finding other places to hang out to get my wits together. Murder on my productivity

You’re saying that the domain offices are still small?

      They haven’t opened yet

I interviewed recently and was told Indeed will be extending an offer for a senior position once the freeze is lifted. Unfortunately my recruiter has no idea when that will be, so I'm stuck in limbo while the timer moves on with my other offers.

There is a hiring freeze based on 1) extremely high head count growth in Q1 2) based on a new GM structure . I think the freeze will go away soon, when GMs will rethink the hiring plans. Nothing bad here, just maturing/scaling the business and it's operations. I think it makes sense to expect more disciplined approached towards hiring in the future.
