Why is it when prominent people post on LinkedIn, sometimes among comments are cringeworthy "elevator pitches" from Indians. Is this a cultural thing?
Like "plss check my profile sir "?
Right up there with "pls do the needful"
Kindly
I hate em
Off topic but imo the most cringeworthy posts on LinkedIn are from agile consultants or scrum masters. There is a definite cultish vibe around agile.
Ohh and basically any post from an employee of LinkedIn.
Never noticed that but I also haven't been looking
There are such people everywhere. Don't generalize. Chinese are not so much on LinkedIn. Indians are; so even 1% would be a big number in their case.
True that, not an ethnic thing necessarily; seen many folks do it of different nationalities. But OP is on point that it happens and that it's stupid and annoying.
OP pls chk my profile would love to work with Mr Sacks on an idea of mine Where to send CV???????!!!!!!1111one one one limit(x approaches 0){sin(x)/x}=1
Hahaha
Fellow Indian people: let's not obliterate our brand by these kind of behaviors. It's not like we don't have a bullseye on our backs by default. Non-Indians: When considering a group of 1.3+ billion, even if 1% are good, you're left with 13 million, which is a huge number. Also, try to have some empathy towards people who might not have had the same opportunities you do.
Thanks. I'm really just curious why though, I'm not really seeing it as a good or bad thing, though I agree it doesn't help your brand. 90% of my LinkedIn network is white yet I've never seen a white person doing this in that way, though I have seen them doing that in more subtle ways. I guess to be completely honest my question isn't really "why do they do that" because you're right it's probably bc they don't have the same opportunities as me, my real question is "why do they think that is an effective thing to do"?
Responding only to the latter part: It's effective. There's little cost to it and possibility of a large ROI. It's the exact same reason spam still happens. Because in 1 out of every 10k mail finds someone who just happens to need to buy an enhancement pill... As long as the cost of sending emails is cheap, then Spam (and this LinkedIn version of spam) will continue
I've noticed that the worst drivers in the world all drive Subaru vehicles. Every time I get behind one, I watch with eager anticipation, waiting for them to do something awful, and 9 times out of 10, they do! Of course, I'm not watching anyone else, because I'm convinced it's the Subaru drivers who are all the nutcases. I'll just let that sink in for a bit. Take your time.
Or more succinctly, Confirmation Bias 🤓
This post is cringeworthy.
No the post is true. I have seen a lot of confrontations from people of Indian ethnicity. They appears to be rude all the time. They think like it is there home where they are just a temporary labors
^^^ This is cringeworthy
