At this point it's faster to raise a baby to 18 and have them sponsor you 😭
We have two types of people on blind. One who pretends not to care about GC, but internally does care about GC and the second, do care about GC. There are 2 types of reactions that people exhibit for this issue: 1) pretend like I don't care about it or live in delusion that my h1 will always renew and even with mounting evidence keep a false hope. 2) shit their pants. A good reaction is between 1 and 2. The other thing is these folks, when you tell them that they can help themselves if they advocate for themselves, usually expect someone else to advocate for them. These same folks think that they are on h1, so they can't reach out to lawmakers (false) or that reaching out somehow jeopardizes their paperwork (false). They also can't see that the folks who are pushing for the bill are all folks like them on h1 - the only difference is that they care about their family that the volunteer. These folks who are hesitant do care about themselves and their family too, but feel that "let someone else do the work, I will sit and enjoy the fruits of labor". 😀 I have been in enough townhalls. I have seen undocumented show up. With constant fear of deportation, losing their day's wage, they still show up. Our folks on the other hand, are worried (while they are legal and have status). If you think the issue is important, volunteer and donate (whatever works for you). Don't pretend your are helpless. So many of RoW folks who oppose the bill are like you, but they are reaching out to lawmakers and shitting on the only bill that helps you. If you don't help yourself, no one is coming to help you.
I am not fully aware of the details of this new bill. If I summarise as today Indian and Chinese backlog is huge and delays to GC are now 15+years. While other nationalities have less delays 2-5y. With the new bill, everybody will be waiting 10y? Is that correct? Better for some, worst for others?
It makes two people who are equally well qualified not be penalized for an immutable characteristic like country of birth. It it fundamentally a fairness bill. It also now contains provisions that would help fix the outsourcing abuse as well (check grassley amendment). In the steady state the wait is 4-6 years for all. It will be longer while the backlog is being cleared.
There will always be different treatments for different countries. “Making it fair for everyone” is a weak argument. There are hundreds of instances of such inequality. For example, US only gives 1 year visa to students from my country, for China was even worse. For students from India it’s like 5 or 10 years. It’s all business, when something is in the interest of the government they will do it. Nobody cares about what is fair.
What is the time frame for getting a greencard for global manager on L1 ?
For Indian citizens it is now 2-4 years.
If I run out of my patience, I will move to Melbourne
Is Canada a good option or going back to India a better one? Been waiting for nearly 9 years now and not sure how long it’s going to be. Really tiring.
Doesn’t matter past 2011
As long as Trump is the president. The answer is no😔
If there is any chance it is with trump. 0 chance under a democrat rule.
That’s what he wants you to think. Ever since he came to office, he has done everything in his power to cut down on legal immigration (even though he says he supports it). If you don’t believe me, check out the stats for yourself.
Seems like this bill is going for a vote in the Senate tomorrow (unless someone blocks it again). Hope for the best!
Canada ! I am fine with less money and depressing weather !
