Interaction Designer offer

Asking for a friend. She is a Visual designer with 1 year experience. Got an offer for Interaction designer role in a public company (1000-5000 employee) in the Bay Area. Wanted to see if you think how much should she negotiate: 107k Base 36k RSU Bonus up to 10% Thanks

Why not state the company?

She thinks the company is small and concerns someone will find out who she is

Design recruiter here. ONE year of experience?? She better take that shit and run. I hired candidates who were making $80-$90k.

Btw it does not hurt to always negotiate but have a valid reason not just “I want more”.

Qualcomm HbKW18 OP Nov 22, 2017

Are you implying Facebook pays a lot more than those 80~90k companies for candidates with similar background?

Holy shit. Can't possibly see how much more you can negotiate for because with only one year of experience that's a sweet ass deal.

Product Designer Manager at FB here (posting from my hubby’s account). All things considered this is a decent deal for a mid size company. As a one year visual designer, likely from a low salary agency (I have been there), and no competing offer, you don’t really have much bargaining power. Negotiate some sign up and/or relocation probably in 10-15k range maybe. Your primary focus should be on building up strong portfolio as soon as possible and jump ship in a few years. Welcome to Bay Area! Arguably the best place for designer career :) And yes in FB we cannot hire good UX designer fast enough. If you are L4/L5 working in Ads hit me up (so I can use my hubbys phone more often haha) for other orgs plz PM our recruiter upstairs (Gufrj40).
