Currently interviewing with 2 companies right now, company 1 seems like an OK company but mostly applied to use them as interview prep (would rather stay at FB than take them), ideally want company 2. Well, I passed the interview for 1 and now onto cultural fit interview with a lead. Seems like most places I’ve read about talks about how you should always seem interested in all interviews, even if youre not. I don’t want to waste company 1’s time, cause I definitely will not take. But, lying to them to bump up salary for company 2 is too tempting. Haven’t had much experience negotiating with this so want to know what you all usually do.
Companies interview candidates that they don't have a spot for or the spot has already been filled ALL THE TIME. Feel no guilt
Companies do the same to candidates.
Amazon is for mocking interviews
And if one fails that, could always go to Zillow
Go back to your sev2 slave!
Cultural interview at 1 needs virtually no time to prepare. Do that and you have more leverage during negotiations with 2. Different story if you have to LeetCode to get 1, but you're past that already
I recommend looking within yourself and asking the question, what is my purpose in this life.
