Interviews for DevOps / SRE roles

How are interviews for SRE / DevOps conducted at decacorns or huge unicorns or FAAMG? Is there the same focus on Leetcode as an SWE panel? More rounds of system design? Or do they just hire SWE and change them internally to SRE at team selection?

I’m actually putting together an online SRE study course. Want me to send you some notes I have on the process? Product isn’t close to done but I have read something like 7 o’Reilly books this summer/fall for prep. Happy to share

So at Google, officially the bar for SRE-SWE is higher than SWE. There's an expectation of high systems engineering knowledge and UNIX internals. You also have to solve the same coding panels that SWE get. Edited: SRE-SWE instead of SRE

No the SWE portion is watered down.

Is this a new development? I read their official documentation last night that SRE-SWE could internally transfer to SWE without interviewing again because of their higher bar. Of course if it's an operations SRE role needing UNIX wizardry, the coding expectation will be lower.
