Long story short: I put everything behind, and decided to switch my career. I went to a graduate school to study CS with no previous experience. I did an internship and got the return offer. I’m just about to start my career. I’ve seen so many talented young people, and feel just anxious about my age.
Nope. Go for it.
Can you elaborate on your experience going to grad for cs without the undergrad?
If you're reasonably smart it's easy to learn new things. I have degrees in disparate areas and it was not an issue. It's easy to generalize on technical areas especially if you're strong in the basics.
yeah but as far as prereqs go
Dude... Even if you were 40 I don't think anyone would care. Do good work and go get paid.
Only in the fantasy land. There is ageism everywhere and no one wants to hire a 40 year old and teach basics.
Yes. Shave your balding head, skateboard to work, and wear Minecraft tshirts
My friend finished his undergrad at 27 and he’s thriving in CS now. How is 26 too old lol. 40, maybe. 26 hell no. Thats only a few years out of college for most people
How is 40 too old? CS Careers exist far (far) beyond FAANG firms.
Yeah that’s not true. People aren’t looking to hire 60-year old self-taught programmers with no experience.
Don't worry about it, I did the same thing but picked the wrong major again ha. My only regret is that I picked slightly wrong and didn't go straight into a PhD.
I feel that way every day. Then I remind myself I’ll never be this young again
too old, might as well quit now
Nothing is too old to learn of you aren't dumb. (purposely said not dumb instead of intelligent)
Wtf. No. 26? You are still a kid.
This
Precisely this!
