Not all of it, but there are some orgs that I can't believe they belong to such a big name company. Amazon Selection and Catalog Systems (ASCS) is one of those terrible ones. I joined this org 2 years ago and will move away soon. The management is terrible: 1. No employee privacy: Managers talk about their reports' performance to the report's teammates. 2. No vision: There are several projects competing with each other and imagine one director says "as long as we're one item ahead of the competing team, we're good" (imagine he's talking about being ahead one out of tens of millions items. Can't believe how narrow-minded this director is). 3. Intern situation: They have interns every year, but till the second week of the internship, they still don't have a project for them. They change the requirements and the plan several times during the next 10 weeks of the internship and then at the last week they don't give return offer because "the project wasn't big/clear enough to showcase the intern's strengths to meet the bar". I really feel bad for most of the interns at this org. 4. Lack of long term vision and direction. 5. Lack of mentors (all people I know have mentors from outside the org). 6. Very visible lack of diversity (race, gender, etc.). I honestly didn't believe in how diversity could help a working environment to be healthier and more productive, until I joined this org. 7. Quoting from one of the recruiters who used to work for this org (she's a friend of mine): "Recruiting for this org is a nightmare. They are very restrict on the eligibility of the interviewers, which makes it very difficult to find interviewers. At the same time they don't accept interviewers from a different org. Meanwhile people in the org, go interview for other orgs, because they don't want to deal with all of the crap the VP put together about the requirements". I originally thought this might mean the org would have a high bar, until it turned out to have the highest PIP rate. Yoe: 6 TC: 290k
