Currently work as a TPM. I need to move to the midwest to support my parents for at least one year. I have a wife and one kid. We are renting here. We really enjoy living in the bay area. I am wonderinbrg if I will be able to come back and recruiters will consider me after working for some XYZ company in the midwest. A lot of people around me keep telling it will be nearly imposible. TC ~240
I moved back from Atl solely by tapping into my network. In fact it was much easier to move back than move there.
For how long have you been in Atl?
1 year.
Just don’t say you were working for company XYZ?
I have moved out of bay and back with no issue, the question you have to ask your self is who is going to pay for the relocation. Both times i moved my self on my sign on bonus using uhaul's and trailers, friends and family as well.. The other part is renting in the bay, best time to move is the winter like a week or 2 before Christmas market for renting is at the lowest point.. For what it is worth...
Agree. Relocation cost is big deal, especially when you have a family. I hope I’ll be able to relocate to the Midwest with help of the company. It’s still up in the air.
Also set your self for a salary expectation unless you are able to work for a big tech company
You won’t have any issue. You have Facebook on your resume too which is a huge boost.
Thank you. My concern is that FB will not be my most recent job by that time :)
Mm. I don’t think it should matter too much, LinkedIn recruiters just search for names, not necessarily your most recent experience. They know for example that people often leave FAANG for startups. When you want to move back, you could also just update your location on LinkedIn to somewhere in the Bay Area. And just watch your inbox fill up.
If it's possible to move here from Midwest in first place. Moving back should be easier. As u will have some Network built up. I moved here from Midwest
Have you lived in the Bay Area before?
Not before I came to Bay area.
