The Microsoft Redmond campus looks like a golf resort but I would much rather have free food instead.
Nice grounds means prestige. Its stupid, but true. The grounds are kept nice for employees and to convey niceness to clients. Only employees benefit from free food.

Most people just like their locations to look nice and “nice” is relative. Could they spend less? Probably. It’s not going to get you free food though.
Free food is a lot costlier than pedicured lawns
That is what I love about the campus. I won't mind to have free food, bit I just accepted it and enjoy it by visiting / exploring many cafeterias.
If you don’t care about cleanliness and aesthetics in your work environment and would rather eat free food then move back in with your parents and stop complaining.
He or she was probably trying to get budget for free food. But as you know Google folk said, landscape costs cannot offset free food costs.
working env is much important, free food means little if compared with good working mood
You get free food if you mow the lawn, rain or shine. Deal?
