Is landscaping for companies a waste of money?

The Microsoft Redmond campus looks like a golf resort but I would much rather have free food instead.

Nice grounds means prestige. Its stupid, but true. The grounds are kept nice for employees and to convey niceness to clients. Only employees benefit from free food.

Free food is a lot costlier than pedicured lawns

If you don’t care about cleanliness and aesthetics in your work environment and would rather eat free food then move back in with your parents and stop complaining.

He or she was probably trying to get budget for free food. But as you know Google folk said, landscape costs cannot offset free food costs.

Most people just like their locations to look nice and “nice” is relative. Could they spend less? Probably. It’s not going to get you free food though.

Landscaping a waste of money? Using that logic, I guess showering before work is a waste of water. Right?

Free food? What is “free” about anything in this world? Reality check...nothing is free. Somebody pays for everything.

Who the shit wants “free” food anyway? Do you think “free” food is going to be good food?

WTF is the matter with you people?

Have you tried the Seattle Facebook free cafeteria? You might change your mind about free means bad.

Linkedin has delicious free food and they are part of Microsoft now. That must feel unfair :)

Unfair? Ha! Anyone that tells you life is fair can be caulked up to having a child’s mentality. That is a fairy tale.

Secondly, I’m sure Facebook has great free food...as far as free is concerned. However, as soon as free food in a cafeteria is of any importance in your life...you should consider where your life has taken you and strongly consider finding something else to occupy your thoughts.

Apologies. I was tired and beyond annoyed at the entitled hollow complaints about free food. The entitlement mentality is a systematic problem of society today and I snapped.

In any case, that is no excuse. The filter momentarily was removed and I said what most managers think when they hear dialogue like this. Filter re-engaged. :)

You get free food if you mow the lawn, rain or shine. Deal?

We pay our HOA $75 a month for landscaping. I wish we could get free food daily for that money :))

      That’s $2.5/day

Once a group is large enough you always get the bad apples that make the whole look terrible. I believe most our people are respectful, but the few who aren't ruin it all.

Our main campus has gone over the top on landscaping. You can spend the whole day walking through the gardens and you would not be able to see it all. I don't want an industrial zone either, but re&f is out of control.
Free food is a different topic. We shouldn't mix the two.

That is what I love about the campus. I won't mind to have free food, bit I just accepted it and enjoy it by visiting / exploring many cafeterias.

Thats up to the city. A lot of counties require foliage on campus after you have revamped the landscape. Some counties are super anal. Kind of like an hoa where they fine you for not upkeeping the area

Fair. I’d love a garden but that does sound excessive.
