Considering applying at Tinder engineering. How's the comp? Work / life? Future prospects? Like working there? What's been going on at the company recently?
Everyone’s busy swiping?
Don't make a fun on the internet. Now be responsible.
Comp depends on how early you joined.
Hows wlb? And culture?
Wlb depends on your team but for the most part it's good. Basically if you get your work done you're fine, no one will question your routine. Culture could be historically described as "play hard, then play harder." But nowadays it's more like "get shit done and have fun". Parties are always incredible, for holiday party we had Harry Potter World at Universal Studios all to ourselves and we just had our Summer Party in Malibu. People are all really smart and chill, lots of people are friends outside of work. I hear about all these FANG stories here on Blind about stress and politics and wonder why anyone would want to work there, especially when $MTCH has been performing so much better than any of them.
Left right left right right right left.... Oh wait right 🙄
Comp bands are lower than the same "level" at FAANG, but we're less strict about YoE requirements so for some people it's a wash (or an improvement). WLB is very good (from the teams I'm familiar with). Very rarely need to do more than 40 hrs, and most of the normal 40 hr periods are pretty laid back. Culture varies pretty hugely by team, but in general consider that we're a pretty young company (relatively speaking) that grew super fast. That has pluses and minuses. Definitely a lot more potential for career growth than average; see again "very young company". We probably have one of the largest user:engineer ratios in the industry, which means you generally own a large part of the domain that your team covers.
I knew someone that used to work there in the Bay Area and liked it (I think they’re HQ in LA?) Comp is strong considering they’re young and small. Equity speaks for itself. Culturally I heard is pretty technical, not necessarily good or bad but depends what you’re looking for. Work life was normal, friend left to move away and said experience was solid
Can you...swipe your coworkers?
Gotta QA some how, right?
lmfao
