Linkedin Levels

Who decides the levels at Linkedin (SWE vs Senior SWE)? Is it all dependent on the Hiring Committee? Or is it possible for the recruiter to influence their decision, based on their conversations with the candidate? TC-$160k

Let’s say that if HC decides Senior SWE. But, based on my recruiters conversations with me, she got an idea that I am fine with SWE as well (which I am absolutely not) but I might have given her that idea unintentionally. Is it possible for her to say something along the lines of ‘Hey, let’s give him SWE. I think he will take it. He seemed interested’!

What did you interview for?

Send her an email to stress you are absolutely not ok with it. Problem solved.

Sometimes, things aren’t as black and white!

You can make it as black and white as you want. If you are absolutely not ok with lower level, you can just walk away right now. But if you don't want to, then the ball is in their course. You sound like you are actually ok with lower level. You just hope for a higher one.

Dependent on hiring committee. Do know Linkedin’s titles are inflated. So a staff engineer is a sr engineer at most other places. Negotiate up.
