Living in San Jose

What’s it like for a single male, early 30s, likes women? 🙋🏻‍♂️ Coming from NYC, thinking about renting a 1br apartment likely downtown, unless somebody has a better suggestion. Serious comments only, please. TC: 🌲 fiddy, but still waiting on other offers Edit: What other oprions are there? I need to comute to FANG. Will get a car for sure. SF seems too far and traffic is a nightmare.

Haha, saw that one.

Airbnb wailo Jul 21, 2019

You can find women to date. Just expect that their BMI will be +10 compared to what you’re dating in NYC, and with a worse attitude towards men. You’ll love the weather though.

Single and Salty?

Airbnb wailo Jul 21, 2019

I’m engaged, but I didn’t find her here. This is the reality.

Where in nyc are you coming from? Which neighborhood? You will be disappointed in SJ. Very, very disappointed. Do the needful and go to SF. You will still be disappointed coming from NYC, but at least there’s good bridges to jump from.

Bloomberg Stan Ford OP Jul 21, 2019

I’ve lived all over - currently UES. Previously UWS, East Village, West Village. SF seems like a great option, but can’t handle the traffic every day.

Amazon lolr Jul 21, 2019

The marina in SF is the closest thing to W Village. Maybe half as good, at best

Google MrBenDover Jul 21, 2019

Lol don’t. Been there. Done that.

Apple majong Jul 21, 2019

You would be more at home in SF. Public transport in the Bay Area especially in San Jose is a fucking joke. You will need a car in San Jose . If wherever you are going to work has shuttles from the city and back up, I would choose SF. Rents however for a 1br are much lower in SJ as compared to SF. You’ll need to chose your battles

San Jose is fuck off boring. Go to mountain view

Facebook upoppd Jul 21, 2019

Lol mv is shit. Turning into sf full of techies and vagrants

Bloomberg Stan Ford OP Jul 21, 2019

Thank you, I was considering it. In what way is MV better?

Samsung vtPX83 Jul 21, 2019

Zero chicks in Bay area. Piss poor housing options and no girls are the tradeoffs for high TC.

Bloomberg Stan Ford OP Jul 21, 2019

Yeah... Relationships are fragile anyway and marriage is likely out of the question for me, but I do want to enjoy my life.

Samsung vtPX83 Jul 21, 2019

Get to know San Jose airport...lots of direct flights to NYC.

Micro Focus iotbw Jul 21, 2019

If you’re decent looking, fit, have hobbies, and can hold a conversation about non-tech related subjects, you should be fine. Yes, even if you’re Chinese or Indian, don’t give me that “yeah it’s only easy for white people” woeful bullshit. People here exaggerate how bad dating in the Bay is. It is if you’re a stereotypical tech bro loser who has nothing to offer besides his TC. I’m not sure where this lack of women perspective is coming from, because when I go out to bars and clubs in SF there’s tons of women there. San Jose is a bit boring but Palo Alto and Mountain View have a decent amount of chill bars. I assume the average Blind user spends most of their day in the office and sits at home on weekends and that’s why they think there’s no women around. The Bay Area probably isn’t as exciting as NYC, but it really isn’t as awful as people make it out to be. So the experience is really what you make of it, but that goes for anything.

Bloomberg Stan Ford OP Jul 21, 2019

Awesome.

Airbnb wailo Jul 21, 2019

All of this is true, but the women you’ll find will be dramatically less attractive than you’d be able to get in NYC. For a guy that wants to be a bachelor indefinitely, it will be a big deal

LinkedIn yakem Jul 21, 2019

Man jose is boring af compared to NYC. Just keeping it real. But if you got game you can get girls anywhere. Besides girls I feel bad for you. San jose sucks.

Apple hsoajwksa Jul 21, 2019

San Jose is garbage. Most of South Bay sucks. Live in SF if you can. I’m moving from SJ soon and couldn’t be more excited.
