MS CS or MBA UC Berkeley

I am MS EE graduate but very new to programming... I have 8 years Apple experience and 10 years total... I am 35 years old.... Thinking of changing careers which one is better MS CS or MBA ? Before anyone answers that it depends on interest., frankly I love both fields... Example: - I have been very inclined to programming, took many courses online and at UC EXT but still I feel it’s long way to become a hardcore programmer, approximately 3-5 years... - MBA I always wanted to start a business and have been experimenting with ideas since few years now .... Frankly speaking my motivation is earning more money... it’s hard to work for someone else who themselves have no vision for future Can someone put themselves in my shoe and just give an opinion.... I am not looking for anyone doing research on my behalf, I have done enough but want to see if others were in my shoe what would they do, giving me a second opinion....

If you go for MBA right now, you will get a Level6 business role irrespective of number of years experience, assuming you want to come back to tech. Hence my two cents: get a part time mba while you are working. Wharton has a program in SF. Full-time MBA will have very high opportunity cost with low short-term return.

Haas has the best part time program

There should be better ways to make use of your money than spend it on MBA...anywhere between 100-200k from a good school. FT or PT still the same cost.

Don’t do a MBA. Unless you hate and want to get out of technical work. You will get more money and opportunities dying the MS.

Neither. Learn how to code by yourself and start applying.

What's your current role? Are you a PM?

Not sure about your current level, but if you think lateral move to either PM or software engineer will make you more money (your primary goal it seems), then I do see MBA (for PM) or MS in CS (for SDE) as beneficial to you. It all comes down to what interests you more and your commitment.
