MS L61 getting Amazon L5 TPM
Looking for advice on salary. I’m a L61 at Microsoft and just got a L5 TPM offer at Amazon. 140k base, 70k signing, 80 RSU Tc = 175k I feel like they are lowballing me and I should at least be making 200k. Thoughts?
Amazing how low amzn offers are for L5 tpm vs g/f. I know tpms from both places making about 300 tc, excluding signon.
G/F L5 is senior, equivalent level at Amazon is L6
Microsoft's benefits are worth more than 20k over Amazon's. That's not even a pay bump from you. Negotiate.
Does it really worth 20k? From where? I guess 401k is 9k
9k 401k, 2k HSA, 3k ESPP gain and the remaining money from better medical benefits and the ability to contribute 20k after tax into your 401k. It could even be as much as 25k extra over the long term. That make sense?

OP is the 155tc from benefits portal which includes 401k, espp etc. Or is it just cash?. If it is the latter, add 20k to your TC. So it'll be 175.

Always counter for more! But that said take the offer, you can always go back to Microsoft if you can’t make it at Amazon. You are going to grow your value at Amazon with their devops deep customer focus.
175k Tc is standard for l5 tpm. I don't think you are being short changed. But if it's not a significant raise from where you are right now you shouldn't take the job.
Makes sense, yeah it certainly seems the pay grade isn’t really going up that much.

I don't know if it's low offer or not but don't go to amazon just for 20k. Including benefits Microsoft paying you more.
