Hi all, Posting on behalf of Spouse. They just got promoted to Principal PM manager. The base pay increase is 6%, annual bonus range is 40% (was 30%), and stock range is $72k (was 48k). How are these numbers based on your experience? I feel they are lowballed but don’t have any data/insights to backup, hence the post. Thanks
I think these numbers are standard for that level and can’t be different from one person to another. So definitely not negotiable, except the 6% raise which is standard but sometimes comes higher if they have a low base And I am surprised she reached to a principal PM Manager level and still doesn’t know that. L59s know this lol
Perfect. +1. Also there’s a scale at MSFT I think it’s called comp ratio. The goal is to have it as close to 1 or greater than 1. Its kind of where does your pay is at compared to every employee at that level. Your spouse can ask their manager about it. Managers are capable of finding it and should make sure with raise percentages to make it more even. So if your spouse is 0.7 or something then manager should make sure they can give them raises over the year to even it out. This happens if they got hired at a lowball offer or got promoted to principal real quick.

That's standard, non negotiable.
This is standard. What’s the total comp is what is variable within the range of the level. So at L65 what’s the total comp?
Smh... All info above can be confirmed on //hrweb
WTF! How come the base pay increase is so low in US! Assuming that the person here was getting $12000 per month in hand, after the promotion it won’t even be $13000! I mean, not increased by even $1000 per month! When I became L61=>L62, in India, even then my base pay increased by 12.5%! I mean, yeah, I know, value of ₹ compared to $ is a joke, but even then these numbers sound abysmally low! How come? 🤔 Not meant to troll. I am genuinely curious.
Because inflation rate in the US is much lower than India.
Bonus and Stock range are completely standard and fixed across all L65s. It is not negotiable. 6% raise is normal. 5% is the minimum, but it depends largely on your new compa in level. If you told us the new base salary we could tell you if it was high or low. But again, not much is negotiable.
