Machine learning/days analysis on shooting?

Unlike other online forums where folks can just argue, Blind has skilled users in data analysis and ml. Anyone with any ideas/interest to collaborate on analysis or prediction of shooting data?

You really think you have the data that can accurately model such events? Don’t be stupid.

Obviously not, which is why I said analysis/ml.

I'm not sure OP understands what analysis/ml means.

Unfortunately I don't think Blind is any better or worse than the cesspool of 4chan. Anonymity breeds the worst in people whether they're technologists, philosophers or auto mechanics. It's sweet that you think that technology can "solve" the mass shooting phenomenon but unfortunately this is a much more human problem. We're going to need to have the long difficult conversation about the tradeoffs of the value of our second amendment rights vs empowering violent people to be more effective (extended magazines, assault style weapons, etc). I still think there's a happy medium there but we need to have the debate as humans and find it. Algos aren't going to create policy because no human will trust them. And if you're thinking of using algos for some early warning system, I think that misses the point (and is also problematic because there's no clear vector to find... without a lot more data aka surveillance).

How I wish someone from Facebook leadership agreed to this.

@Google You really think Facebook leadership hasn't had a single conversation about this? I guarantee they wrestle with these problems every single day.

It doesn't require any analysis to see they come in clusters, and that's about all we have.
