I have an offer from Macys technology Atlanta, I heard from two to three people that layoffs are common or more in Macys. I also have other job offer but pay is less than Macys. Any suggestions ??
Macys sucks. I lived close by. I decided to move to PNW rather than take a job there to cut down on my commute. People in North Fulton usually join there not because of career progression but they want some place to pay the bills.
Macy's had a layoff for the senior level recently. Besides they also laid off the entire field service department and outsourced it. As a company it is trying to cut costs much. Having poor earnings every quarter. However from what I hear they are also moving lotta jobs from San Francisco to Atlanta to cut costs again. Which maybe good for you
They had like Recruiting event in Atlanta for two days. So do you think this is because they wanna form a team here ?
Can you give more specifics of the type of job? It varies from org to org. For example, some are growing and others are shrinking.
I think this position is related to Pricing Systems in Macys.
If this info is not late, Pricing system in altanta is fine. Layoffs are definitely going on but this area is relatively immune
U will have plenty of work in Atlanta b/c all the SF jobs r going there. Every job
Probably only 20% of them are actually being kept, while the remaining 80% are most likey being farmed out. I mean leadership did say they wanted to move to an 80/20 split between contractors and FTEs.
They want to do a big reboot without actually doing anything innovative in the tech space. This article hits the nail on the head.
Can anyone provide referral for macys ?
Why you wanna leave Starbucks tho

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
Check out latest quarterly earnings - Department stores are increasingly under pressure with more people shopping online, renting clothes and accessories from places like Rent the Runway and buying directly from brands instead of going to the mall. Macy's certainly hasn't been immune to these struggles. Retailers also have been pressured by the threat of tariffs on a wide range of consumer goods made in China. A 10% tariff was set to go into effect on Sept. 1 on clothing, apparel and other items, but the tax on some items has now been delayed until Dec. 15. Macy's shares are down nearly 60% from a year ago. The S&P 500 Retail ETF (XRT) is down about 25%.
