Does anyone know of cases in which male and female colleagues with the same level of competency and performance levels are being paid differently with one being marginalized with respect to the other?
Yeah, I know that I am a male top performer and I mentor a female in my team who makes 25% more than I make. Can I sue or complain? I guess not, because I am not of the right gender
You can interview and switch jobs.
You missed the irony, -zzz
(Channeling my inner Cathy Newman) So what you're saying is women are less likely to succeed compared to men?
Brother might I recommend you grab some popcorn and watch this: https://youtu.be/aMcjxSThD54
Yes, women are discriminated at almost every level and equality should be a core val..... Err... Wait, sorry, thought this was my corporate intranet.
*sensible chuckle*
I'm interested to hear real stories too, but you won't find it on blind
Hmmm.. where can I find real stories? I’m a female and former AMZN Principal looking for other women who were targeted and shocked with PIP by insecure male supervisor.
We all know such biases/discrimination exist. I always think that every man who is blamed for creating such a bias/discrimination, is some woman’s father or husband. Why aren’t they questioned by their wives? Why do we always go out and blame others? If every woman fixes her husband/father/brother, we wouldn’t have to face these topics. :-)
The most misogynistic male manager I’ve dealt with was married to a woman, and he adored his two little girls! Total lack of self-awareness. So certain he embraced women professionals... as he managed women out.
I have two PM friends at Microsoft who work in the Azure org. They're similar experience level & ability, but the woman makes 30% more then the guy. It's so counter to the narrative I dug into it, it seems being one of the few women on the team she & the other women always get good raises, her boss has said things like "we value women here", she also has other female execs & managers coming to her side at calibrations. The guy works super hard, definitely puts in longer hours. But has to fight it out with everyone else in his team. Basically no one it offering him any help, he has to fight his way to the top of the pile, while she's being given, as she puts it: "the easy street".
One of my managers once said: listen, I can give you only 6-8% raise. If you want 20% jump, you need to switch companies. So, if money is your main focus, keep switching jobs every 3-4 years. Who’s stopping you?
