Narrowed down my choice of suv to these two. Other contenders include CRV and RAV4. SAFETY and Technology package are top priority followed closely by TCO and driving experience on long trips. Mac budget 40K and new car only. Please vote
Dude just no to Hyundai. I almost died in one in college. Those cars r build with paper mache and runs on Lego technics
Wait until March for 2019 Kona Electric.
Drive Quality wise Mazdas r the best among non-luxury. I think they fixed Android / apple car play issues.
Toyota has Safety Sense standard. Check it out.
Head units are garbage though. No car play or android auto support, so you have to rely on their very limited and buggy apps. Would not buy a Toyota until they add support for android auto.
2018 models have Car Play but no Android Auto. I was just emphasizing that Toyota has Safety Sense across all models including the cheaper ones. Like all cars, Toyota cars have their pros and cons.
Seems like Mazda is clearly the top choice n Hyundai the least favorite. For those who voted for Mazda.. Can you tell me why it's better than the rest in the categories mentioned? I thought you get more bang for your buck with Hyundai
I have a CX5, my dad has a CRV. To put it simply, the controls and drive on CX5 feel like an Audi Q5, CRV feels like a cheap Honda. Drive them both one time and you will see.
Hyundai SantaFe is the best affordable SUV as of today. Just buy it with all bells and whistles and you won’t change the car for the next 7+ years.
Yeah, I got the ultimate trim with everything. The interior is so much better than a RAV4, driving and ride is much more refined too. RAV4 is just rough.
Op what did you end up buying? I compared rav4, cx5, rdx, and Santa Fe. I bought Santa Fe ultimate 2.0t
I am exactly comparing these too and confused between Santa Fe and cx5. I think the cx5 handles and drives better but the RDX blows all of them in driving dynamics. But I like the pano roof of Santa Fe, the lane keep is sick for long drives and it is very very roomy for a family. I like the look and drive of the cx5
Yeah, RDX is a great car, but I can’t stand the grainy 360 backup camera. Also infotainment has no touch screen, I heard it’s buggy. The advanced trim gets very expensive that you can probably just get a high trim BMW X3. For CX5, it’s a smaller car I felt the back seats are cramped. The infotainment and safety tech is also dated. Santa Fe has all the boxes checked for me, the fuel economy isn’t great but I don’t mind.
Brand new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 will get you the best performance. I love mine.
Didn't the 2019 model undergo a total redesign? Why get an outdated model?
I got mine because it was a hell of a deal. But here are some practical differences too. 2018 holds more 2 more people and is only 2” longer than the 2019 model. And, horsepower was reduced from 290 to 235 in 2019. Admittedly 2019 has swankier interior electronics and a couple additional safety features. Net net, I got mine because of the insane price cut at the time, and my preferred features. To each our own 🤗. I had a Hyundai Genesis coupe for 9 years and never had an issue with it; I’m sticking with Hyundai until I step up to a luxury car.
