Graduated 2 years ago from SJSU with a concentration in Design and Mechatronics. Have been working as an Application Engineer since then and have always dreamt of working at Apple. I even went through 5+ hours of in-person interviews for a position in a secret group and didn't end up getting it because the guy they hired already knew someone on the team (as per the recruiter). The recruiter and hiring manager also said they'd keep me in mind for future roles, which as per another Apple employee, could be a good sign because otherwise they would have flat-out rejected me without saying that. This was in Feb 2016 so haven't heard anything since then despite following up with them. I haven't had any luck since then. I thought I had a great resume and did very well in college as well, so I'm not sure why I never hear back from these companies. Any suggestions/ideas/internal referrals would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance! Edit: Also looking to pursue an MBA within a year or two, just so you have an idea of the direction in which I want to steer my career.

What does a MechE do at any of these companies?
They all have hardware related projects that they work on. I'd suppose we would be working on those? Apple is definitely known for its hardware, so that's where I see myself the most.
You think the products design themselves?
