Hello! I'm a legally blind software engineer. I'm about to graduate with my MS in Computer Science, and I've also been in a Software Engineering internship at another company for almost a year now. I've been invited to a Microsoft Ability Hiring Event on May 8th, which is an all-day interview for candidates with disabilities. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect from this event in particular, or from coding interviews at Microsoft in general. Thanks!
Hey man want to wish you good luck! Awesome to hear you're coding despite the disability.
I don't know if there's anything different for people with disabilities, but in general hiring events are 4-5 coding interviews (back to back). The recruiter should tell you the exact number and schedule. Good luck with the interview. Wish you all the best and really admire you.
Good luck! others have already answered, so I just hope you nail it
Seven blessings to you!
How did you learn to read if you are blind for example how can you read the my comment or even navigate to blind app and post stuff? I am just curious and feel like the answer will inspire me to work hard. Sorry if this is rude.
I had a fully blind friend who's an SDE. There are some apps that read the content for them (so that's the answer to how do you read). But the important thing is not that. It's their unbelievable memory and brain that can "picture" the whole code inside their mind and basically that is their eyes to keep track of where you are in the code. It's not easy and does require lots of practice and obviously the potential. People who are not blind rely so much on their eyes that simply ignore this part of the brain skills.
Wow that is truly amazing ability. My memory is definitely bad as i have to keep referencing google and copy paste code.
