Microsoft recruiter told me the median performance bonus they’ve been seeing is 14-16% when I asked if target was 10% during comp discussion. This is for an entry level position.
I think closer to truth, 14% sounds about right. While the official target is 10% most get above target, as getting anything below target means that you are underperforming.
10% is target for entry. As your level increases the average increases.
Level 59-62 target is 10%, 63-64 15%, 65-66 20%, 67 30%
Depends on role & comp plan... UBI/CBI/RBI
Entry level bonus target is 10%, a plurality of folks in any level will get target. 1.4x-1.6x target is substantially exceeding.
How does a recruiter have access to rewards data?
They have access to stats...
It's truth. It largely also depends on your performance, but I've got above 10% every year since I started.
Do you mean 10% of base?
Most I’ve seen are around 10%, but take notice, bonuses at Microsoft have been turned into a retention strategy. Meaning, they are only given to people who “exceed” expectations. “Meeting expectations” is barely considered valuable from levels 64+, which is ridiculous, but how leadership has chosen to handle it.
Totally incorrect. Meeting expectations gets you either an 80 or 100 rating. An 80 will get you 80% of the bonus target (15% for 64, 20% for 65/66, 30% for 67), 100 will get you 100%.
Totally agree that leadership now even gives zero to those who meet and exceed expectations and RBI. This enables them to give much higher rewards to those they want to keep or those who play the right politics. It’s a totally unfair system
Target of a 10% would on performance good wold get 12%
It’s performance based. Every level has a % you may get 100% of that or more or less depends on your performance
It depends on what level you are.
Entry level.
Complete lie then. At higher levels, the average is above 10%.
