Microsoft debacle- life for women in other tech companies?

After all the press about Microsoft’s issues with female workforce, curious to hear if treatment is better at other tech companies? There’s extensive info unveiled on a wide range of concerns from sexual harassment to career progression, continued old boys club mentality and so on. I have to wonder if we’re really the pits or the grass is not greener elsewhere either.
Asking for a friend... 😉

Are women being paid less, promoted less, valued less everywhere? You bet. All the time.

Look at how the President treats women. He has endorsed groping a woman you are attracted to as a form of flirting.

It's been worse in my experience the last few years because more misogynists think it's acceptable behavior. And when you ask them to stop you get the response "That's not what I meant by that. You're being too sensitive. You can't take a joke."

This isn't a new problem. Oracle (unfair pay) Nike (harassment), Google (hiring as "consultants" those who sexually harassed and misused their power) and now Microsoft. It's everywhere.

I don't think the last few years have been any worse. Inequality and harasement based on gender, color and nationality is not new phenomena.

It's not new but it's been intensifying recently because bigots feel empowered.

Maybe. But tech us still a boy's club and comparatively little harder for women to fit in or Excel

Women are treated poorly everywhere. Low pay, working twice as hard for promotions give their male counterparts. I feel bad for them

Boys club everywhere . It sucks . Younger men or same age men get promoted for all the blabber and women just keep getting pushed around.

No, no better in Apple. Just more cosmetic cover up. Actually they make sure you are labeled and abused once you come forward. Especially disguised with female managers or colleagues to do that. Make sure you are so humiliated and shamed and eventually leave.

There's no point in comparing is there? Just because someplace else is a shithole doesn't mean MS should be too. There are issues. They must be fixed

Thanks for the answers. Been in the industry for long, recently several years in MS so was curious if things got better elsewhere in the meantime. I guess not. Snark level increased though, so progress... :)
