Was planning an introductory call with a startup founder. First appointment: Had my phone on “do not disturb” mode throughout the slotted time. Forgot about the interview even though I set an alert on my phone. Explained my mistake, and he agreed to reschedule. Second appointment: Was intently sitting in a quiet place waiting for him to call me. After a few minutes, no call. So I decided to reply to a few other recruiters. After 20 minutes, I checked if I had the wrong time. Then I saw in the email that the interview was via Google Hangouts, so I was waiting for a phone call for nothing! ...The Google Calendar event had my phone number in it as a “back up” though. Startup founder seems to have ghosted me now. I guess I’ll take this as learning experience.
Sorry for being direct: this shows you didn't pay attention to details and failed to prepare anything unexpected. The only thing that they could have done better is to try contacting you via email when you didn't pick up the phone. But that's really optional.
Seems like u ghosted from their pov. Imagine how you would feel if the roles were reversed. Apologize to them. Hope they think you’re sincere, expect nothing.
Yea, I sent an apology right after. No reply though.
The type of interviewees who miss calls like this end up becoming employees that miss work because they ran out of gas, lost their wallet, etc. Not saying that’s you but it’s what I’ve seen.
I lose my wallet and so on all the time. I am very good at software and maths. Fairly good at communication.
@Paypal: I'm sure you think you are good at all of those things but I suspect your coworkers don't think so.
He is PTSDed about getting punked thrice in a row. Give him time to heal and try punking him again.
🤣
Wolf! Wolf! ...... woolffff!
You fooled him twice already. What makes you think he would fall for the third time?
in case this was for a swe role: if I was the interviewer this would strongly signal to me that you have no eye for details and that if some unexpected problem occurs it takes you an exceedingly long time to notice and fix it (unless someone else created a super detailed run book for the exact problem you're facing). For your second interview I would have been extra attentive and by the 5 min mark I would've re-read the entire appointment confirmation mail (in which case you should've seen the hangout) or crafted a 1 sentence email to the interviewer asking if he's still up for it and not spend 20 min with some other random stuff.
What I generally do is that if I don’t receive a call even 5 mins after the scheduled time, I shoot them an email saying something like, ‘Hey. Just a gentle reminder about our scheduled call right now.’ This simple gesture eliminates a lot of unwanted scenarios!
RIP. You're toast
Lol Do not Disturb and not reading the email completely.. seems like you're focused on something else op.
Pornhub requires full focus 😂
lol, forget about it!!!
