Are there Indian people who moved back to India from USA? I want to know about the experience. I have been thinking about my life 5 - 10 years down the line and finding it very difficult to decide if I should stay here or move back to India. In my experience here so far, it is a lot more professional environment here. Lots of opportunities to learn and grow in career. Quality of life is better. Lots of places to visit (I am an avid hiker). But then I start thinking about India and start questioning if money and other benefits are everything. I hear that things have improved a lot in India in terms of infrastructure and quality of life. Not at par with things in USA but yeah, catching pretty fast in major cities. Another line of thought is that once you have a decent house, car and some saving in India, INR 50-60 LPA (combined income with wife’s) is enough to live a very comfortable life in India. Closer to family and friends! Is it just me or anyone else went through this dilemma? How did you decide?
Go back to China~ ooops... I mean India.
I have the same thought and looking forward for other comments on this. Personally, I think that i was fortunate to get this opportunity to learn and grow in USA, and its all because of my parents which is why I want to become capable enough to make an impact back in India before i move. Even if the job satisfaction or quality of life isn’t that great, i plan to gain enough capital and knowledge to (hopefully) start my own company if job didn’t work out, but i have to go a long way for it. I don’t want to leave my parents alone back in India - we have enough Visa pain, i am unable make them stay here with me for more than 6 months a year. I completely agree with you, if you think you can have good amount of savings and you will be happy with it, you can choose to move back but i would suggest evaluating your trade-off in detail to make a better planning so that you don’t get surprises. I have asked this question around, and mostly i got feedback to move back after coming to a senior level like principle or manager, the reason being both experience and compensation. At that level your salary might be lower but your stock options will be competitive.
It is all about how strong are your reasons to come back. Many people return but not for long. Things have not changed much but if you live in a decent community, it helps a lot to adjust. For me, it was always this feeling that I live in a foreign land and that I don't belong there but I know many friends who are quite happy. There are pros and cons in both places. Ultimately it is mental attitude more than anything else.
Should be great. From what I have been told, much lower stress, warm weather, family and friends. On the minus side, do not expect work to get done quickly and efficiently. Banking, Housing, Schooling etc takes time
Lower stress? Lolwut bro?
Op do you have a green card here? I ask because, if waiting for your green card is one reason to stay in US, you need to know about 'the line'.
Can you reason why he should do it in 5 years? Op question was what are others thought process for those who have been in similar circumstance.
If you have been from Bangalore or Hyderabad. You can always go back. But if you are a Bihari like me.. Probably it’s easier to adjust in Silicon Valley than Bangalore or Chennai for that matter.
Go back if you want to live like a King. Stay if you want to give your kids better opportunity.
Same question for me. But different country. Thinking about going back to Spain.
As an American I gotta say, Barca fucking rocks.
Would you go if it's Catalonia instead of Spain?
