My wife recently accepted a job in another state and we will be moving in a few weeks. I do digital marketing for a small IT company and can easily do my job remotely (even though i currently work from the office 5 days a week). What is the best way to go about telling my boss that I want to keep working for them but can’t do it from the office anymore. Should I offer to do the work as 1099? Need advice. Thanks
Stay with the company. Don’t convert to 1099. That’ll make it easier to cut you off. Make it easy for the company: daily checks, ask for more projects, reduce company expenses, etc. If you’re able to show them it’s easier and more beneficial to keep you offsite, everyone gets what they want.
Thanks

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
It's easy for them to establish a business presence in your new home state for tax purposes, so don't get suckered down the 1099 hole. Tell them you need to move for family reasons but that you really like working there and would like to find a way to continue in your role.
Thank you
