Thinking of moving to Austin from NYC but a little nervous about the job market. From what I’ve heard it’s a huge tech hub, super progressive, great real estate market, etc. Icing on the cake is that I have family there and I’m also just ready for a change. I’d love to be able to buy some real estate soon / be closer to family and if I stay in NYC that obviously won’t happen anytime soon. Anyone have any suggestions of some companies I should be looking at in regards to more of an operational mid level role?
No need to move to Austin when there's Seattle
Already lived in Seattle - hate the weather
No need to experience depressing rain for 9 months and step over homeless on every corner.
It's alright, there's plenty of tech jobs but there's far fewer good opportunities than what you'd find in one of the main tech cities.
That’s interesting - thanks for the insight. Are you at Oracle based out of Austin now?
This is exactly it, the competition just isn’t there yet for the average tech job in Austin to pay SV/Seattle/NYC pay
House prices getting up there but not nyc prices yet
The people that jump into something new have the highest potential of getting something larger in return.
Brilliant
Can I just say that you’re probably the only optimistic sounding person on here, whether you’re being sarcastic or not lol. Everyone is so jaded and negative! Thanks for that.
