I am working in bay area on h1b visa and looking opportunities to move Canada. How good is the IT market there and affordability to own a home ?
How about commute if I live outside of city ? Heard Salesforce is going to invest 5bn in next 5 years
Buy a whole new closet of clothes if you move to Toronto. T-dot has much more job opps than Vancity, if you can handle the freezing cold over there. Good luck!
@OP any insights on how to get canada work visa?
How good is Canada and what's the commute like is like asking how good is the west coast of the US. Your question is too broad. There are good pockets and cities, there are bad pockets. Commute ranges based on neighborhood. Nobody can answer your question directly, just start with Google
@modiji planning to apply PR while working here. Also thinking of express entry program
Toronto is superb. Lots of public transportation. You will not need to drive. Compared to the Bay Area traffic is nothing. Just a tad cold. Dress appropriately.
Average single family home is $1.3M Canadian for Toronto . https://www.google.com/amp/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4522047. Not sure how large that would be? My guess is realistically you are paying more.
In the city. No one lives in the city except the Chinese millionaires being property or those that bought a while ago. Everyone lives in the greater Toronto area but not in Toronto. Houses are 500kish for like 3bdr
Our relatives average home in Markham is $1.5M but it’s 4 bedroom 2800 square feet. 25 years old but remodeled.
How about prices outside of city or monreal/ontario locations ?
Montreal is super affordable compared to Toronto or Vancouver. Ottawa is great, Waterloo is nice (you'll get a huge place) just a bit boring.
@m2z8mg thanks! Do you know any good companies in that areas to work for ?
To check housing prices goto realtor.ca or download their app.
Homes are so much more affordable because down payment needed is usually 5%. Vancouver is on the expensive side but getting cheaper. Toronto is pretty cheap if you live outside the city, which most people do. Both are very good for tech.
Yeh outside the city as in 40-60 km away with 1.5 hr one way commute. Housing is way too expensive in Toronto and vicinity. More than Seattle/east side for example.
