I’ve been at msft for 10 years so I have 4 weeks vacation. If I add up all the extra time I can take off it’s like 2 months a year which includes my vacation, sick days, holidays, flex days. Moving to Amazon it will be just over 4 weeks in total? As a previous msft employee was it a big loss?
Exactly as the previous person said. Just get your work done, and take as many days as you want. That’s what I do.
You are always free to “work from home”.
Wow, my Amazon manager experience has been quite different. I once left early and sent a humorous email about “scoring drugs” because of an injury I’d had. My new SDM forwarded it back to me at the end of the month to remind me at put it into TimeOff. I normally work 50-60 hours a week, I was shocked. But he was new and left it up to me to decide if it was time off or not. But he definitely monitored and reconciled the TimeOff data every month. So I now assume that you’d best be careful in assuming you can take time off without accounting for it.
50-60 a week!! Take it easy
It should be more than 4 weeks if you are combining holidays, personal leave, vacation, and sick leave. Plus I’ve never had a manager here actually care about me claiming days as long as I’m doing well meeting team goals.
