I just got offers from both Salesforce and LinkedIn, and I got an email from Netflix this morning asking me to consider them. I’m happy with the LinkedIn offer - and I want to live in the Bay Area - but am I stupid for not considering it?
Netflix has some challenges coming up in the near future when Disney launch their own streaming service. LinkedIn has no competition and a big moat. I would go there if I were you.
Is the Netflix role on LA? If so, can you please specify that in the post?
Does it matter? It’s not for you...
It does matter, what the fuck did he not consider? Why is he stupid? What does living in the Bay Area have to do with anything? All these points are very weak and lack context, so it makes it impossible to contribute and provide guidance.
Also... TC of your role, and the offered roles.
TC 114. SF TC ~ 120. LI TC ~ 140 plus stock.
OP, how long did LI take to get back after onsite? I think I did well, but hiring bar seems to be too high for SSWE.. how was your interview performance in your opinion?
It took them a while and they sped up given the competing offer - but they told me upfront that my performance set a new bar.
I see, thanks! Is “a while” > week? :) Btw.. I’d suggest going through NFLX if LI can wait, it’s definitely worth a shot and culture can be pretty exciting if you are ok with 50+ work hours..
Take the LinkedIn offer while you continue conversations with Netflix. If you fail at Netflix you still have an offer from LinkedIn
It’s really bad form to go back on a signed offer though, right?
It's employment on will. LinkedIn wont think "Is it really bad to fire an employee?"
OP what type of role is this? SWE, analyst, data science, pm?
Oddly your TC numbers seem very low for a SWE
TC and YOE?
Congrats OP! I would advise to negotiate more for base from Salesforce and pressure LI. What level questions were asked in the LI interview? Were they from LI tagged Leetcode questions?
Cash is king.
