Netflix Recruiter Interview

Finally received an email for Netflix recruiter to set up a phone interview. Would love to know how to prepare for this one as I don't want to screw it up. Also, I am from a non-coding background and interviewing for a security role, any help on some of the topics I should prepare better than other is appreciated. Thanks

Try to be a jerk, you will fit the company culture right in.

No, I got through the fucking recruiter and phone screen, I did not like the dry, arrogant culture, so denied going to onsite. It’s not my type of company.

I had one a few weeks back. Went all the way to onsite. I found looking at the job application very helpful. Look at the bullet points they have asked for and try to contextualize your work experience in terms of them. And please try to avoid lies. They are amazing at spotting bs

This really helps! How was the onsite interview? Was it coding or technical deep-dive?

Yahoo ukPQ44 Nov 20, 2019

Everything. The coding was not as deep as other top tier companies but enough to differentiate between people who can write good code and those who can’t. However, I wasn’t a good fit experience, leadership wise. It sucks but I learnt a lot and will apply again

I don't have any specific advice, just a warning - you can actually fail initial recruiter interview at N. I've managed to do exactly that.

Yes I have heard that, and that's why wanted to know before I talk..

Really understand the culture and identify what you like about it. Your first call is likely going to be more about culture fit than the technical aspects. Well rounded candidates are more appealing than those that just 'stay in their lane.'

Thanks!

Here's how it went for me (did this a few weeks ago): 1. Was asked to give a brief overview of current work experience. 2. Why Netflix and why X position(s)? 3. Why do you want to leave your current company? 4. Discussion regarding points in the culture deck. 5. Questions for the recruiter: what are the next steps? how soon can I expect to hear back? Etc. I read the entire culture deck and wrote down notes the night before. It's also helpful to come up with examples to demonstrate that you have the qualities they're looking for.

Thanks.. If you don't mind me asking , did you get the job?

Not yet. I just cleared the HM interview. Next step is a phone screen. AFAIK, every team interviews differently at Netflix so it might be different for you once you pass the recruiter screen. Keep us posted!
