Netflix interviewing only 5+ ex?

I have a MS from a good university and 3.5 years of experience. Can I expect to get a call from Netflix? I cold emailed a recruiter and she said I should apply next year. I'm a huge fan of their engineering prowess and would love to give it a shot. If possible, any referrals?
