Hello, Can someone help me with pay comparison for software engineer between Netherlands and Canada? Where can I make the maximum overall compensation? Whats the base salary in both these places for SDE2? TC: 280k YOE: 2.5
Both have very different style of living. You’ll pay around 52% in taxes in Netherlands, but you will have a lot of government sponsored benefits, relaxed work-life balance, your severance if they to fire you will be 3M+, and you can basically take 2Y paid sick leave for nervous breakdown if your doctor is ok with that. In Canada you’ll pay about 32% in taxes, it would definitely be less vibrant than Amsterdam. Employment law is a bit better than it is in the States, but not even close to Netherlands...
Thanks for the details. Although I have heard about 33% taxes and with 30% ruling, I only have to pay 30%. Are you sure taxes are 52% for a immigrant on work visa in Netherlands? Also, what would you suggest for short term move, just for a year? Canada or Netherlands?
