Hi everyone, I am a graduating senior from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor's in Data Science. I've been having a tough time finding Data Analyst/Science roles that consider new grads without full-time work exp (I have internship exp). Any advice?
Does Cal have a bachelors in Data Science? Never heard of such bachelor
Yes they do http://guide.berkeley.edu/undergraduate/degree-programs/data-science/ Data Science < University of California, Berkeley
Well am Not sure. In the end it all depends upon how much you know. It can be that many companies are considering with some exp but if u r decently good ppl won’t mind interviewing u. I hv always felt never do these pure data science programs. Data science is just a combination of stats, ml and computer science. Do major in comp science with courses in stats and heavy component of ML. that wud make u suited better for good ml career
I have but in a few years. I want to work and save up some money first. I've been looking at business analyst roles at Google but with no luck
Sent you a DM, if you want to talk more
Berkeley's DS bachelor's is considered one of the best programs of its kind. Entry level DS often isn't available in large quantities at top companies, so grinding your teeth at less "sexy" companies is better.
I'm open to data analyst roles as well but even those require multiple YOE
Don't settle, do grad school or switch to SWE. You need to actually have a transferable skillset to be valuable.
Clever handle 🤣
yeah sucks, not as many entry level positions as in SWE
Exactly
If your internships are not resulting in job offers then you’re not doing interning right.
I have an expiring offer but want to look elsewhere
You have another job offer?
