E.g. hired as Google L3 but get L4 pay? Would you take it? 5 <= YOE <= 12 Current TC π₯ Coming from no name companies I would get more than 100% raise and get a great name on resume to get interviews elsewhere later on. Of course quick promotion is not guaranteed so I'll be working on interviews for L4 type role from a competitor while working Note: it's not Google but similar level company
Seems great. Less responsibilities but the same amount of money. If you really are L4 level you should get promoted quickly anyways.
Yes I've heard that everywhere (get promoted quickly) I'm just worried about things like politics, no visible work available, bad management etc making it hard for me to get an opportunity for promotion
Doesn't happen with top performers in p90 cases in top companies
I have a similar experience with my Uber offer. They also mentioned I should be promoted soon based on the interview results. I took the close to the next band pay as a good sign.
Did you accept the offer?
I plan to accept. It's not only a big increase in a place with low cost of living. It's also going to be good for my career growth since I'll be gaining experience in a new industry, but it's close enough to my current work that I feel like I can contribute. My biggest decision was to move my family to Pittsburgh or not. It'll be further from the external family.
Take it
Just really bummed that I blew system design (no experience with it, just read grokking) but I figure I can take the$$$ and interview in the meantime to get L4 Guess it's better than no offer π
Yeah! But I would suggest get hang of the company. If you made a place couple of promo in 3 yrs is not big deal. Choose wisely. Optimize for L5 not for L4.
