I finished interning at MSFT recently and when I met with my recruiter for the final eval, I didnt get a return internship offer for summer 2020. Without getting too deep into the reasons I wasn’t extended an offer(miscommunications on both sides, bad project), will this make it more difficult to apply and return as a FTE? My Connect is generally good. The only time I got negative feedback was when I met with my team at the final Connect. Would a manager in the future be able to read my connect before making a hiring decision?
Just do well in interview. That is the most important thing
Apply through the normal channels and hope for the best. With ms on your resume, it shouldn’t be hard to get other interviews, so you should be ok either way.
Microsoft is not the last company.. that said if you do well it interviews the connect feedback might not matter as much..as far as the concerns in connect weren't around personality, everything else can be learnt and improved upon
Yes, hiring managers would be able to see your Connects.
If you are looking for an internship next year please let me know
Sales force taking the scraps now? How’d it go?
What does bad project mean? Unless you were a dick the project shouldn’t make a difference to get hired back. What was your feedback
Probably project was in an area which was not well understood by the team as a whole. So there was not well defined success criteria and people’s ability to help was limited. I’ve seen it before.
That sounds like my internship experience at amazon. But i got the offer back. Actually didnt even end up writing code cuz it was so badly scoped
Hi! I know this is super late but I thought I would share my experience incase anyone else finds this useful. I interned at Microsoft this past year (not in the summer though) and I didn’t get a full time return offer. I was really distraught to be honest and I was upset because they told me I during my midpoint that I was trending towards an offer and I never received negative feedback until my meeting with my manager where he told me I didn’t get an offer. This summer I’m interning at Facebook where it’s supposedly much harder to get a return offer and I got one. To anyone who doesn’t get a return offer, don’t get hung up on it because chances are that you’re going to find more success elsewhere where you belong :)
I'm just reading this and I want to send a big thank you for writing this :)
I did not get goldman sachs return offer, got the news yesterday. I am devastated, thanks for sharing this, it gives some hope.
Well, you basically did not meet the hiring bar for an internship, which is probably the lowest bar possible. So you will have a hard time getting a full time gig
Don’t crush a young heart like that man.
