Non FAANG Companies List

Hi all, I was wondering if there was a list out there consisting of tech companies on the same level as Salesforce, VMWare, Zillow etc? Would prefer Seattle but Bay Area is fine also. I know that I won't get a FAANG job this go around so I want to have reasonable goals in my job search. Thanks,

I would encourage you to apply to FAANG anyways as you have nothing to lose. Here is my list (in no order) Microsoft + LinkedIn Oracle AirBnB PayPal VMware Salesforce

Gotcha, thanks I have a final round coming up with Oracle but trying not to get too hopeful. MSFT, PayPal and VMWare ATS denied me so I’ll probably try to get referrals for those at some point. Got a ref for Salesforce but waiting to apply until like Jan when hiring isn’t slowed down. Does that make sense or if I see a possible fit, apply anyways?

Aww 🤗

Bigger companies may have more options like sys eng or test eng at Amazon. They do index a bit more on leveraging potential when there’s tech gaps. Kill it on leadership principle qs

True, I’ve been told I should switch to management due at some point in the future due to my people skills, but right now, <2 yoe as a swe out of college and trying to stay general see if I can. I’m reluctant to go into a non swe role as I’m worried I could get trapped there

Qualtrics is hiring a lot in Seattle

I’ve seen, but tbh even though I meet the reqs for some of their jobs, never been able to get past their ATS for some reason. Might need to just message a recruiter directly

I was rejected from 4 companies after on-sites, but landed a decent offer from FB. Don’t ever sell yourself short!

Nice congrats! A friend mentioned to me that I have imposter syndrome and I’ve been really thinking about it. For example, I got past the oracle technical screens but when I think back about them and whether I could complete a random problem like that all over again with the success that I did, I don’t think I could do it. Just been a bit too hopeful in the past, got let down, and now I have issues not being pessimistic

Imposter syndrome is a real thing, especially if you’ve progressed along in your career quickly. Just remember that you progressed quickly for a reason. Don’t get discouraged to apply to FAANG! Apply and if you get an on site, it was because the recruiter and 2nd round interviewer (if you have one) saw something in you that they believed you could succeed in the role you applied to. Just prepare like a mad man, put you best foot forward, have a great attitude, and leave the rest to the company to evaluate whether your skills fit their needs. Good luck!

Most companies let you reapply in a year, might as well apply to your target companies now
