Posting on behalf of a friend who is a new college grad (BS) Disney: SF location, 110 base, 20k signing, no RSUs, some long term incentive of 30,000 thats not guaranteed, and a bad 401k. Product facing team that just merged with disney last year Apple: Sunnyvale location, 115 base + overtime, 30k signing, 50k RSUs, good 401k, rotational program that allows for exploration
Any reason for that you don't advocate for Disney? Just curious
Is the 50k vested pver 4 years?
Over a period of time, these minor differences in money will even out. I guess the larger question I would ask myself is what I want from my next job? What do I want to learn there?
Apple is a tier1 company and part of FANG. Better future and easier to get into other good companies in the future. Disney is like tier5, you end up working with dumb people and harder to get into FANG.
Is... is this a real question?
Apple has WAY more interesting and meaningful projects. Sunnyvale is not as fun as SF but it’s a little cheaper and safer. As others have already stated, the money will even out over time. It’s more about team and impact. Unless your friend is a big Disney fan (free park admission plus guest passes to Disneyland are a great perk for young people) I’d pick Apple. I used to work at Disney.
Um... how is this a hard choice? 🤷♀️ Apple.
