I am an Indian citizen working for 10+ years in msft with no chance of GC anytime soon. I have an offer to move to Canada, what do people here recommend? Pay cut is 20%, but I am wondering if that will pretty much limit my overall career in the long run.
What's ur PD ?
it takes you 3 years to get citizenship in Canada, come back to the states after Canadian citizenship?
I’m sorry you have to leave, it’s so sad that we lose so many people like you in the US while allowing anybody from the Third World to just show up and jump on welfare. If we keep this up then we’ll all be migrant soon, but they’ll be no more America to go to
“it’s so sad that we lose so many people like you in the US while allowing anybody from the Third World to just show up and jump on welfare” Why do you make an assumption that everyone else immigrating to U.S. automatically go on welfare?
70% of the Illegal immigrants in the last five years are on some form of government assistance. Twice the rate of native citizens. In general current arrivals are consuming significantly more resources than they’re contributing in taxes. This is going to severely strained the welfare state that’s already not sustainable. And somehow we’re imagining like we can potentially expand social programs in every direction? We’re kind of in this strange insanity. We want both mass socialism and open borders. Even a few years ago Bernie Sanders admitted that made no sense. Now we’re kind of just running directly off this cliff
As someone who lived in Canada for a while then moved to the US, please heed my warning: Fuck Canada
Interested in your experience, it goes against our mainstream media narrative That Canada is woke and America is racist
Yep, FYI I saw more racism in Canadan than US. In US people are racist to your face, and you kinda expect it. In Canada, they hate you but smile in your face, then express their racism in private among friends. Plus, they take pride in not being America. Wtf does that even mean? Make a copy of NYC and call it Toronto? I'll never miss living there.
Take it. Get citizenship. Come back.
Bad advice. Dude is Indian, you can't get Canadian citizenship, then immediately get greened here. Your GC application is tied to your country of birth.
Who said anything about getting greened here? Come back on H1. At least he can go to Canada if his H1 gets rejected sometime in the next 70 years.
take it and move
Can you share why?
Career prospects are incredibly limited. You will feel it as you progress to a senior engineer.
Only 20% pay cut, are you sure? That’s a small price to pay for a great passport and lifetime backup health insurance.
Don’t forget that Canadian Income Tax is very high. It could go up to 35~40% total. It applies to bonus as well.
Where is the offer?
