Offered a “promotion” to a director level title with a higher base salary and additional responsibility; will still manage prior positions responsibilities + new departments. However, Id lose money ($600-800/month) because Id lose bonuses. Worth the title or is it just my company trying to shovel more shit on me for less money?
Yes, the later. I’m sorry.
Wtf..I would take lower title with higher pay any time
Tell them to at least match your bonus?
I don’t know if I’d work for *less* pay but they’d better at least match. Make it clear to them you’d be making less without bonuses and that it is contingent on you taking the position. If they don’t bend then don’t take it.
Your future potential earnings will be way higher as director lol... crush it the first year and the stock options that come in will be gold
What about taking the title then cashing it out at your next opportunity
Is your work scope increased? If so, take it
No. Don't undersell yourself. If they can do it once, they'll do it again. Think of it as an exercise in getting what you want. Your baseline is your current pay and say I need this to be a director and tell them why you deserve it. Don't show weakness.
"Don't think of this as demotion. Think of this as promotion to a lower level"
Not worth it. Work harder with less pay? No Brainer. Titles are pointless unless you stay for the title inflation and jump soon after.
