Is Okta a better place than Microsoft to grow career as software engineer? I'm with Azure team now and work is going fine.
There is only so much you can do with SSO. I’d stay with MS
Like Dpdpdkj said, it’s a one trick pony which already IPOd. At least go for pre IPO one trick ponies.
Ask Alex Simons what he thinks of Okta
I would think the same, if they were eating my lunch. 🍆
Sales company not for technologists.
Because Okta was started from ex-salesforce person?
App integrations does not sound exciting to me. But in general, take the advice above by others with a pinch of salt. Oracle and MS are both trying ... hard... poor things :/. Oracle and MS are great for coasting in your comfort zone unless you are in a KEY impactful role (rare). You can either be a small fish at MS learning small insignificant stuff, or join a smaller (any) company and learn how everything works and fits together and see your impact. If you were writing OS internals, be at MS. If you were writing a DB, for gods sake even then don't be at Oracle!!
Lol what does Oracle even have to do with this conversation? If anything your post makes me never want to work for Okta, because you sound like an egotistical dickwad. Also, ever since Okta's IPO, MS stock has grown 3 times as much as Okta's. So it sound to me like Okta is the ... poor thing :/.
Did I touch a nerve there? Lol Oracle because it has an IDaaS product. They have been working on it for close to 3 years now. You know, let's do this cloud thing strategy. You might be right. OP if you care about companies with highest stock growth rate, take a look at NASDAQ and then start interviewing. SQ and others FB, Goog are probably growing faster than MS.
If you wanna grow, don’t do app integrations *anywhere*, and don’t join a big company. You can and will coast through because its just so easy.
Love okta. I highly recommend coming here.
The folks who think Okta is an SSO company obviously don't know what they are talking about. Okta is also a user store, a MFA provider, Authentication / Authorization as a service provider. We have only *started* to explore the platform as a service market. And last, Okta is a data company, they can spot app trends before VC's can. Things change so fast here that you probably won't be at the same team 6 months down the line.
Which role ?
Advanced Apps integration in Okta.
